Explorer Program
The Holy Land Experience is proud to offer this field
studies program. It is our sincere hope that every participating
student will walk away from the experience with us, desiring to continue
to explore the single most important book in the history of mankind and
the world - the Holy Bible.
PLEASE NOTE: Arrangements for the Field Studies
program must be made at least three weeks in advance.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the schedule, we are unable to make
exceptions. There is a $5 per student charge in addition to the

Some of the Biblical characters that your group may encounter:
Musician
- Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Learn to sing and dance in Hebrew.
Perhaps you will get to perform a Hebraic dance in our Temple Plaza!
Come and learn what it means to worship the God of Avram, Yitzak, and
Ya'kov through music, dance and song!
Potter -
Enter the warmly lit Potter's Grotto and sit at the feet of the potter.
Learn the different ways clay vessels are used. You may walk away
with your own little creation made of clay as a reminder of how you have
been fearfully and wonderfully made for a unique purpose.
Roman Soldier
- The Roman army is looking for new recruits. Come to the Legio X
Fretensis and see if you have what it take to join the ranks of the
Roman legion stationed in Jerusalem. Engage in military activities
such as fighting positions, competitions or marching like a foot
soldier.
Scribe -
Sit under the instruction of Gamaliel, teacher of the law and instructor
of the Apostle Paul, as you learn about his native tongue. You
will be given the opportunity to pick up your own writing utensil and
learn to write your name in Hebrew as a keepsake.
Tanner -
Simon the leatherworker, also known as the Tanner for Joppa, will teach
you about his trade and why so many Jews despised it. Learn to
distinguish various types of "skins" and how leather was used. As
his apprentice, you will work on your own handmade reminder of how this
most ancient of trades was affected by the "first dressmaker".
Tax Collector
- Meet Matthew and learn first hand why tax collectors were so despised.
Compare the value of shekels and mites and see them up close. You
may even have the opportunity to mint your own coin, learn about the
busyness of the marketplace or find out if Matthew would ever walk away
from such a "profitable" business.
Weaver -
Visit the weaver and try your hand at weaving on a first century loom.
Learn the meaning of styles and receive your own first century
headpiece. You may have the opportunity to design your own
biblical outfit or try one on and leave the village with a better
understanding of what it means to be weaved in your mother's womb by
your Creator.
